This conference followed up the wave of #metoo accusations in the media, academia, art and music worlds and the film industries across India that called into question the pervasive culture of male entitlement, sexual harassment and exploitation. As those closely involved in supporting and documenting the protests against sexual harassment in the Telugu film industry, we wanted to explore this issue more deeply to understand one, the structural aspects of the problem and two, particular problems that beset the industry and the distinctive nature of its work environment.  As such the conference had #me too moment, unions and struggles, re-thinking masculinities, women writing film histories, caste and representation, men acting and reacting and finally, women organizing in the film industries. Women in Cinema Collective, South Indian Film Women’s Association and Voices of Women actively collaborated in the effort.
