Queer Up Session 15 ‘Fanfiction: Reclaiming the Mainstream’ with Vidya (they/them)

Queer Up! is a public outreach program by Anveshi focused on the gender and sexuality. This session which was conducted on 9th January,2021,focused  on the representation of queer themes in mainstream media and how their stories are always shown as tragic and not for the consumption of the Queer community. Vidya talks about how Fan fiction can be seen as an avenue for change and transformation of the content produced by the mainstream media, which is embedded with its patriarchal notions of Queer lives, through a queer lens.
